You Can Now Study Miley Cyrus for College Credit

Let’s call this a Bachelor’s degree in the (pop) arts.

Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. plans to offer a summer course on Miley Cyrus, entitled “The Sociology of Miley Cyrus: Race, Class, Gender and Media.”

Visiting Assistant Professor Carolyn Chernoff will be teaching the class about the 21-year-old pop-star. Chernoff was apparently inspired to teach the class following Cyrus’ iconic MTV Video Music Awards performance, local paper The Saratogian reports

“I was teaching a course called ‘Youth Culture In and Out of School,’ and the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) became the twerk heard ’round the world,” Chernoff said. “I showed that video to my class, and the students had so much to say.” Read more…
