A family dog is getting some extra loving this week after he was pulled from the rubble of a home that was destroyed by a devastating mudslide.
Buddy, a chocolate lab, was left at home in Darrington, Wash. on Saturday morning when his owners, the Kuntz family, left for a baseball game. When they returned, their house — as well as their neighbors’ homes — was gone. It was a victim of the massive mudslide that has so far killed 24 people and left 174 others missing in rural Snohomish County.
The family assumed that Buddy was dead. But when they later returned to sift through the debris, searching for family heirlooms, they heard a whimper. Read more…
