Beastie Boys Settle Dispute With GoldieBlox Over ‘Girls’ Copyright



The Beastie Boys finally settled a months-long lawsuit with GoldieBlox, a toy company that parodied their song “Girls” in a viral ad.

The video, which was first released in November and has since been made private on YouTube, features an elaborate Rube Goldberg device, set to a cover of the group’s song with alternate lyrics like, ’cause all our toys look just the same and we would like to use our brains.

GoldieBlox was founded by Debbie Sterling, a graduate from Stanford University who majored in mechanical engineering and product design. She wanted to make toys that engaged girls in areas like math, science and construction from an early age. Read more…
