Amazon has made a major commitment to original media content with the announcement of full series orders for six new television shows.
The company, which primarily operates as an online retailer, has slowly been building out its media properties. It is the second group of original shows picked up by Amazon, which dipped its toe into the market with Alpha House — which is being renewed for a second season — and Betas.
The series is a diverse group that includes The After, a dystopian future drama from Chris Carter, creator of the X-Files; Transparent, a comedic drama; two children’s shows, Gortimer Gibbon’s Life On Normal Street and Wishenpoof!; detective noir Bosch and Mozart in the Jungle. Read more…
