Hockey isn’t a sport for the fainthearted, especially at the Olympics. Friday’s Photo of the Day, which features Swedish goalkeeper Henrik Lundqvist saving a shot from Nino Niederreiter of Switzerland, captures that intensity at the men’s ice hockey preliminary round group C game in Sochi.
This photograph was taken by Bruce Bennett, Getty Images’ director of photography for hockey imagery. The Brooklyn-born hockey photography legend captured the shot at the Bolshoy Ice Dome while covering his fourth Olympics. Taken from above, the image shows the game from a hard-to-get angle.
