Think of it as Saturday Night Live, but the host is always Seth Meyers
Meyers seamlessly picked up the Late Night baton Monday night with a cold open sketch of “Thank You Notes.” The sketch was a Jimmy Fallon staple when he hosted Late Night. So it was an appropriate nod to his predecessor, who moved up to The Tonight Show last week
The cold open reflected Meyers’ SNL days, where the newest late-night host spent 12 years of his career — nine of which as head writer. He then moved onto a monologue, which again resembled his old SNL gig of hosting “Weekend Update” minus the iconic desk.
