Citizens of the United States and the United Kingdom, get ready for an R-rated Ron Burgundy.
America’s favorite fake news anchor is returning to the big screen with an extended version of Anchorman 2. The PG-13 movie hit theaters in December, bringing in $169 million. That’s around $80 million more than the original Anchorman, according to Box Office Mojo, even though Anchorman 2‘s opening weekend was worse than expected. The extended release, which will run for just one week in about 1,000 theaters, starts on Feb. 28.
Director Adam McKay said the crew realized they could replace every joke in the movie with another bit they had already filmed but left out of the original, according to The New York Times. So why not give it a shot? McKay said the raunchier version will have something like 763 new jokes and will be about 95% different from the movie released last year. Read more…
