North Korea Executes Kim Jong Un’s Uncle, Calls Him ‘Human Scum’

Kim Jong Un’s uncle, Jang Song Thaek, has been executed in North Korea for leading a “dissolute and depraved life,” the Associated Press reports.

North Korea state media say Jang, who was previously the second-most powerful official in the country, was accused of corruption, drug use, gambling and womanizing. State media say Jang is “worse than a dog” and “despicable human scum.”

Jang was once seen as the power behind the throne after Kim Jong-il’s death in 2011, but he was removed from his post on Sunday after a meeting of top officials in Pyongyang
