Instagram Will Hold a Mystery Press Event on Dec. 12

Instagram has sent out invites to multiple members of the media, including Mashable, for a mysterious press event in New York City on Dec. 12

The invitation is particularly vague and doesn’t reveal much other than the fact that Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom will be present. The media is invited to “share a moment” with the Instagram team. One could take that as a reference to a new private messaging feature, the focus of many rumors. Or one could take it to mean pretty much anything

Rather than send the invite through email, though, Instagram sent a physical invitation through FedEx. That is an unusual move, though not unprecedented: Facebook, which owns Instagram, mailed out paper invitations for an event earlier this year that introduced Instagram Video. Read more…
