It seems like everyone wants to eat healthier nowadays, and with that in mind, there’s a number of startups that have emerged to bring customers better food options. The latest is a startup called UrthBox, which has a Birchbox-like subscription box full of healthy snacks.
Just as Birchbox provides its customers a sampling of health and beauty items, UrthBox will give subscribers a monthly collection of snack items. For $19 a month, customers will receive a curated box full of 20 snacks meant to appeal to health-conscious eaters.
The focus will be on organic, all-natural, and non-GMO products from existing and up-and-coming brands that customers might not have heard of. UrthBox will provide detailed information about the items that are found in each box and allow customers to purchase those items in its online store, or get discounts at local shops.
UrthBox has several different options to choose from, depending on users’ dietary needs or restrictions. There are Standard, Gluten-Free, Diet, Vegan, or Snacker options for subscribers, each priced at $19 a month.
Of course, UrthBox isn’t alone in the subscription snack category. There’s also NatureBox, which recently raised $8.5 million from General Catalyst over the summer. And there’s other options, like Love With Food, which focuses more on hard-to-find gourmet options.
