You can throw away your old pedometer. The iPhone 5S comes packed with a M7 motion coprocessor, which tracks a user’s step count and activity type

The latest video in our Ask a Dev series looks at the best ways that developers can take advantage of the iPhone 5S’ motion-tracking chip.

Consulting iOS architect Conrad Stoll explains that fitness apps are a great way to use the chip. The coprocessor can track the user’s motion and record his number of steps or his speed while running and jogging.
