The CIA has a secret ally in its controversial drone strikes program that kills suspect terrorists around the world: the National Security Agency. New documents leaked by Edward Snowden reveal that the NSA’s Internet surveillance and hacking capabilities in fact play a crucial role, as reported by The Washington Post.
The NSA contributes to efforts to hunt down terrorists with a wide variety of cyber-espionage tools. Sometimes, they intercept Internet traffic and emails; other times, its elite hackers team — the Tailored Access Operations division — hacks into a target’s computer to intercept files, chat logs and even record keystrokes.
