Google chairman Eric Schmidt admits to being surprised by the explosion of tablets in enterprise, but now believes that the trend will see a big shift in the way companies distribute software.
Speaking for the second time in a week at the Gartner Symposium in Orlando, Fla., Schmidt expressed surprised at how tablets have stormed enterprise and said that he expected most employees to bounce between their PC and mobile phone.
“I was actually surprised by this. I didn’t call this,” he said in comments first reported by Business Insider.
“Would the phone replace the PC? I figured employees would be using a PCs and a phone. But it was the tablet revolution. It looks to us like the majority of enterprise computing is being done on mobile devices, in particular on tablets. That broke the old model.” Read more…
