The one millionth Raspberry Pi computer manufactured in Britain has rolled off the production line. The credit card-sized machine, which costs as little as $25, has become a bit of a cult hit recently for hobbyists and kids who are interested in coding and the intricacies of computer hardware.
Production of the Raspberry Pi originally began in China, but moved to a plant owned by Sony in South Wales back in September 2012.
All told, 1.75 million Raspberry Pi computers have been sold worldwide. Sony was kind enough to build a gold-plated case for the one millionth UK edition too: “We’ll be displaying it proudly here at Pi Towers,” the company said.
Take a bow, Raspberry Pi. That’s quite an achievement.
