Trance Wants To Make It Easy For Great Dancers To Show Off Their Moves

Dance is a creative art that has always had real mainstream appeal. But while big general platforms like YouTube and Twitter are decent for showcasing dancers, they’re not ideal. Dance could certainly benefit from having a service that’s made especially for their art.

That’s the idea behind Trance, a mobile app developed this weekend at the TechCrunch Disrupt Hackathon. Trance is built to let dancers create and share minute-long video clips of their work with a dance-focused audience. The Trance platform is aimed at letting dancers show off their unique styles, and enabling dance fans to see the latest work from their favorite artists — and discover new artists to love.

Trance had a really compelling minute-long onstage presentation at the Hackathon (that is embedded below), so we asked Marwa Muhammad and Harper LaFave, two of the four developers behind the app, to come backstage and discuss it more at length. Check that out in the video embedded at the top of this post.
