Shooting your own 4K video may be closer than you think.
Sony’s new $4,500 FRD-AX1 camcorder, announced Wednesday at IFA in Berlin, puts 4K video in the palm of your hand and stores the content on XQD memory cards.
The FRD-AX1 is not necessarily a camcorder you’d buy for capturing home movies. Sony is targeting the “prosumer” market for this particular device — think wedding videographers and independent filmmakers who want to capture the best video possible for a client but may not have the funds to purchase a professional rig.
