The Internet has become so ubiquitous over the past two decades, it can be easy to forget that well over half the world’s population still does not have access to it. To address this issue, a group of companies that helped make the Internet popular have teamed up.
With Facebook as its de facto leader, this coalition, which last month introduced itself as Internet.org, released a 70-page report Monday on how to move towards global Internet access. In addition to Facebook, Qualcomm and Ericsson contributed to the report titled “A Focus on Efficiency.”
