AMC delivered its third major announcement within a week on Tuesday, informing Mad Men fans that season 7 will be split into two seven-episode parts titled “The Beginning” and “The End of an Era.” The revelation comes on the heels of AMC revealing a spinoff series for Breaking Bad and a companion series to The Walking Dead.
The series’ final 14 episodes will be split over two consecutive springs in 2014 and 2015, akin to the model AMC used for Breaking Bad. Past seasons included only 13 episodes.
“We plan to take advantage of this chance to have a more elaborate story told in two parts, which can resonate a little bit longer in the minds of our audience,” Matthew Weiner, Mad Men creator and executive producer, said in a statement. “The writers, cast and other artists welcome this unique manner of ending this unique experience.” Read more…
