Dell is upgrading its Inspiron line of consumer laptops with Intel’s efficient Haswell processors, extending battery life significantly. The company is also updating the line of laptops with aluminum exteriors and ultra-thin designs.
The Inspiron 7000 is available in 14-, 15- and 17-inch sizes. Each is configurable from Intel Core i3 to i7, and Nvidia graphics are optional on the 15- and 17-inch models. All sizes come in touch and non-touch models. Depending on the model, battery life extends to 9 hours and 52 minutes.
The best part may be the new thin design — just 0.6 inches on the 14-inch model. The 17-inch model is 1.1 inches thick, partly because of its optical drive. SSD and hard disk options are available; screen resolution goes up to full HD (1,920 x 1,080). Backlit keyboards are standard and prices begin at $699. Read more…
