Datapipe, a managed services provider, has acquired Newvem, a company that provides heat maps and other forms of analytics for AWS customers. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Newvem provides services that simplifies the use of AWS and other cloud services by providing customers with a platform for managing their workloads on the cloud service. The service is designed to replace the tools that AWS provides, giving customers an alternative to tracking spreadsheets. Instead, customers get a full picture of their usage in one view.
Newvem will now be fully integrated into Datapipe for customers to get real-time analysis. The two companies have been partners for the past several months.
Datapipe has bought two companies in its 15-year history but that may change now that cloud services represents the fastest growing aspect of the company’s business.
“This is an opportunity to start from an M&A perspective,” said CEO Robb Allen.
He said the opportunity is to buy services that offer point capabilities. Security, database as a service (DbaaS), orchestration and DevOps tools are areas of focus.
Datapipe competes with companies such as Rackspace and Savvis. Newvem compares to companies likeĀ Cloudability, which is also helping customers visualize their cloud spending.
