It’s common knowledge that when you grow up, your soul withers and dies, taking with it your imagination, creativity and free spirit. (Sorry for the mid-morning downer)
So ultimately, all those lovely books from your childhood lose their magic. Adults don’t have time to visit the chocolate factory with Charlie, would prefer Waldo to stay lost and think Winnie the Pooh is lazy and gluttonous
