Also included as an update are popular tech and social media words: selfie, digital detox, Bitcoin, BYOD, emoji, FOMO, geek chic, hackerspace, phablet, srsly, TL;DR and more.
Now listed as a verb, twerk joins other words rooted in pop culture that Oxford has appended to its print or online editions in recent years, like lolz, totes, OMG, LOL, mankini, jeggings and sexting
