Hey Twitter, Tear Down These Lines

Remember the Quick Bar? Twitter would probably prefer you didn’t. It was an enormously unpopular and widely mocked feature the company introduced into its iPhone app: a promoted trend constantly hovering in a grey bar at the top of the screen. Referencing Twitter CEO Dick Costolo, wags began to refer to it as the “dickbar.”

Whatever you called it, it was removed in less than a month, and Twitter showed appropriate contrition. It was a feature that would have brought in a lot of advertising dollars. But the users had spoken, and Twitter is nothing if not a company that listens to its users.
