Just-Eat, the world’s largest online takeaway ordering service, today announced it has acquired the UK’s third biggest takeaway ordering service Fillmybelly.com, ramping up its expansion and further consolidating position across Europe.

Just-Eat already provides its services in 13 countries around the world, offering customers a choice of 20,000 takeaway restaurants via its website. Today’s acquisition sees the company add another 1,400 UK restaurant partners to its service, with Bertie Cordingley, Fillmybelly.com founder and owner, continuing to lead the day to day operations of the business.

David Buttress, managing director of Just-Eat UK, said “This acquisition cements Just-Eat’s position as the only truly national online takeaway website, which means that our customers can enjoy the widest range of cuisines from thousands of restaurants across the country. Those restaurants know that partnering with us is the key ingredient to reaching customers in their local area.”

Just-Eat launched in Denmark in 2011 but is now based in London. The company has been busy expanding its operations across Europe, recently investing in Swedish company Online Pizza, acquiring Italian takeaway service ClickEat.it and buying French website Alloresto.fr. In fact, it’s the ninth acquisition the company has made in just over a year.

As a result it has facilitated more than 30 million orders, generating over $500m in revenue per year for the restaurant industry. The company shows no sign of halting plans to expand worldwide, snapping some of Europe’s biggest takeaway services as it does so.
