Freelance UI/UX Designer

We’re looking for a dependable and talented UI/UX designer. We have ongoing work, so if you’re good, chances are we’ll work together on a regular basis.

Here’s what we’re looking for :

  • You must be able to read a project brief and come up with a design concept that looks sexy to us and the target audience, while staying on budget and on time.
  • We’ll probably also need you to produce wireframes and various design comps.
  • If you have some experience designing social networks, that’s a plus.
  • If you have the ability to slice PSDs in standards-compliant, cross-browser code, that’s a plus.

Writer for Cool Green News Site

Budget: $1,000 to $2,500

Your opportunity to power a beacon of inspiration around renewable energy solutions… We’re looking for a savvy writer to curate and create gallery style content around the hottest products, latest trends, services and future design concepts driving the renewable energy movement. Your job will be to seek out interesting news and create visually strong, gallery-style posts of up to 250 words in the areas of transportation, green gadgets, home products. style & culture and travel. Up to 20 posts per month.

Key Responsibilities

  • Story Research: Utilize social listening tools, Google alerts and PR monitoring tools to identify potential stories.
  • Editorial Planning: Assist in planning of editorial calendar, essentially what stories go live and when.
  • Writing: Write blog posts. Occasionally contact others for original quotes or to answer questions/queries for posts.
  • Maintain Voice: Interpret the direction of strategy/planning and creative leads to bring the tonality and POV of the blog to life consistently.
  • Teamwork: Work constructively and contribute proactively with editor, community manager, creative and development team.

Front End Web Developer

Budget: $10,000 +

We’re seeking a talented front-end web developer to help us build engaging web experiences using JavaScript/HTML/CSS. A developer who will apply their visual and technical signature to several sizable projects for a large range of clients/industries. The majority of our projects are web-based applications that interact with humans and data in interesting ways, and we need someone to help ensure everything we build is a pleasure to use.

Responsibilities:

  • Write high performing, optimized, client-side code with browser compatibility and accessibility in mind
  • Advocate for best practices, great usability and exceptional quality, with awareness of client needs and priorities
  • Identify and prioritize multiple projects in a self-directed and motivated way
  • Champion products with dedication to quality and attention to detail

You provide:

  • A passion for web standards and user experience
  • Proven HTML/CSS skills (HTML5/CSS3 a plus)
  • Brilliant use of asynchronous JavaScript (jQuery a plus)
  • Conversant with a variety of web templating systems and MVC frameworks (expert PHP a must; familiarity with Symfony a plus)
  • WordPress experience a plus
  • Experience with common and more obscure cross-browser and cross-domain solutions
  • Experience with version control a plus
  • Natural curiosity balanced with pragmatism. You are always up for trying out something new, but you know how to pick the right tool for the job
  • Knack for working in small, close-knit teams
  • Fluid written, verbal, and electronic communication skills, and a good sense of humor
