BlackBerry Mobile Conferencing Wants to Take the Pain Out of Conference Calling

RIM didn’t steal my enterprise startup idea, but it did develop the next best thing: a conference call app that integrates with your calendar to offer one-click dialing for conference calls. If it actually works properly, it will actually be better than my idea for a conference calling provider that provides instant one-click dial-up since this should work with any conference call provider.

The new app, called BlackBerry Mobile Conferencing, available for free in the BlackBerry Beta Zone starting today. Naturally it’s only available for BlackBerry at the moment. Call My Meeting for Android, Appt Dialer iPhone and Accutel Conference Assistant for BlackBerry offer a similar features.

Here’s how it works: when you add a item with conference call details to your calendar, the details will be added to Mobile Conferencing. When the calendar reminder for the meeting appears, an option to dial the conference call will appear. You can also manage your calls directly within the app. Also, if you’re dropped for a call, you can reconnect with one-click as well.

In addition to dialing conference calls from the calendar, you can use it schedule conference calls and send out invites. The app will protect your host codes and send only the dial-in information to the people you invite.

Disclose: RIM is sending a test device for me to evaluate the app, but it didn’t arrive in time for the this post.
