– Kynetx Platform Lets Developers Script and Expand Twilio Apps Across Multiple Endpoints –
Kynetx, provider of the first development platform for creating cross-platform, event-driven apps, has added intrinsics to their rules language specifically designed to provide easy integration into the Twilio API.
The new integration makes it easy to bring these technologies together in event-driven, context-aware applications that have never existed before. These new apps are able to meld relevant data together from multiple sources, creating meaningful context-based outcomes, with interaction points on the phone, SMS or any URL.
An example app by developer Sam Curren premiered at the Utah Open Source Conference in Salt Lake City on October 8th. Built in just a few hours, Sam’s app integrates Twilio functionality with a Google spreadsheet and the Kynetx Platform to auction items via phone call or text message. The app allows a user to dial in and hear a message listing the current bid, receive bidding instructions, then key in a bid for the item up for auction. Once the bid is in, the caller hears a confirmation on their high bid. Behind the scenes, Sam’s app integrates with a Google spreadsheet that acts as a management back end showing bid history, allowing bid deletion and providing contact information for the winning bidder. New bids also post to Twitter, allowing interested parties to follow the auction.
The cloud-based Kynetx Rules Engine (KRE) allows applications to span multiple websites and platforms and to integrate with web hooks and APIs, making it possible for developers to literally “program the internet,” regardless of the OS or browser they use. The Twilio integration is one of multiple new uses now available for the Kynetx platform.
“Using the Kynetx Rules Engine with robust APIs such as Twilio’s allows programmers to create event-driven, connected apps that stretch from the web to the phone and back,” said Dr. Phil Windley, Kynetx Co-Founder and CTO. “Kynetx applications that leverage APIs can achieve user purpose across devices and platforms in ways that have never been accomplished before.”
“With Twilio we’ve created the foundation for a modern and flexible telephony and SMS service entirely based in the cloud,” said Jeff Lawson, Twilio CEO. “The integration of Twilio with the Kynetx Rules Language gives our developers a scripting layer for Twilio telephony and SMS that expands application possibilities to new levels.”

About Twilio
Twilio (Twilio.com) is reinventing telecom by merging the worlds of cloud computing, web services and telecommunications. Twilio hosts a telephony infrastructure web service in the cloud, allowing web programmers to integrate phone calls and SMS messages into their applications. Twilio’s simple, powerful API minimizes the learning curve required to build advanced, reliable communications applications, and its Pay-As-You-Go pricing model means customers pay for capacity only when they need it, not before.
