You’ve heard of crowdsourcing to help a film get financed, but bringing in the masses into the creative process? This idea is truly, truly, truly outrageous.

Jem and the Holograms — yes, that ‘80s cult classic ‘toon about the “truly outrageous” rock/pop girl group — is getting a push to the big screen as a live action feature, and the crack team of filmmakers behind the project is turning to the social web for inspiration (and, for a lucky few, talent).

Jason Blum (the Paranormal Activity mastermind and low-budget impresario), music mogul and No. 1 Belieber Scooter Braun and G.I. Joe: Retaliation director Jon M.
