Roku Adds A Whole Bunch Of News-Related Videos, Thanks To AOL On

Streaming set-top box manufacturer Roku wants to have as much content that appeals to as many people as possible on its devices. Lately, that’s meant adding new content channels from big TV networks like ESPN and Disney. But the box is also getting more streaming content today – specifically news content that’s being distributed through AOL On.

The new Roku channel, which is powered by AOL On, will provide news junkies with access to news-related categories across a wide range of interests. That includes access to business, entertainment, and technology videos, among others, from more than 1,000 publishers such as the Wall Street Journal, Associated Press, Reuters, BBCNews, HuffPost Live, CNET, and Engadget.

The service will be available on new Roku LT, Roku 1 and Roku 2 players, and will automatically be added to current-generation devices such as the Roku HD, Roku 2 HD, Roku 2 XD, Roku 2 XS, and Roku 3 players, as well as the Roku Streaming Stick. That’s in addition to the existing AOL On channel, which has 14 different content categories, including food, business, entertainment, style, technology, travel, and health.
