One college student just learned first hand that there is such a thing as bad publicity
Bevii, a social networking startup founded by a sophomore at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, tried to promote the launch of its app earlier this week by sending an email to students at the school. That might sound harmless, except that the email was designed to look like a shooting alert from the campus police, with the victim being Facebook.

“At precisely 10:01am yesterday, in broad daylight, shots were fired on Franklin Street,” the email read in part. “The victim is being described as a blue, outdated social network.” Read more…
