Google unveiled a new model of Chromebook on Tuesday, one that takes the price of the category to a new low. The HP Chromebook 11 is a small and light laptop that costs just $279.
Google’s Caesar Sengupta revealed the new Chromebook at an event in New York City. Google’s Chromebooks have been gaining in popularity — one in five school districts in the U.S. have deployed them to some extent, he said — and Sengupta said the company worked closely with HP to create a Chromebook “for everyone.”
The HP Chromebook 11 has an 11.6-inch IPS (in-plane switching) display with excellent brightness (300 nits) and impressive off-angle viewing (176 degrees). Running Google’s Chrome OS, it packs a dual-core Samsung Exynos processor. It has 2GB of RAM and a 16GB solid-state drive for storage. Read more…
