Three ABC comedies will debut online ahead of their television premieres: The Goldbergs, Trophy Wife and Back in the Game. TV networks employ this digital-first strategy to draw early buzz for shows before they hit the traditional small screen.
From Sept. 3 to Sept. 17, people can watch the three shows at WatchABC.com, Hulu Plus and on the Watch ABC mobile app for Android, iOS and Kindle
Previously, ABC premiered musical drama Nashville online and then on TV in 2012
Fox first tried the tactic with the Emmy-nominated New Girl in 2011 and repeated it in 2012 with comedies The Mindy Project and Ben and Kate. Fox last year also posted the first-ever full TV episode on Twitter — the season three premiere of Raising Hope.
