Nintendo announced a $50 price drop for its Wii U console for the holiday season, in an attempt to spur sales of the struggling system.
The Wii U Deluxe Bundle — originally $349 — has been marked down to $299 starting on Sept. 20. The deluxe bundle includes a charging cradle for the Wii U’s GamePad, the touch screen controller included with each Wii U. It also includes a 32GB hard drive.
Along with the Wii U price drop, Nintendo announced a budget version of its popular 3DS handheld: the 2DS. The system will launch Oct. 12, the same date as the next iteration of Pokemon: X and Y. It will be compatible with all of the 3DS games but without the addition of glasses-free 3D. It also plays DS games from Nintendo’s previous-generation handheld. Read more…
